Matthew Bowman serves as General Counsel at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF). Prior to ADF, he worked at HHS overseeing legal services provided through OGC’s Civil Rights Division regarding civil rights matters, the Children Family and Aging Division, and generally the Public Health Division. Mr. Bowman was an attorney at the public interest firm Alliance Defending Freedom for ten years before HHS. He currently practices constitutional and civil rights litigation relating to health matters, and has argued 20 cases, including six at federal appeals courts. Mr. Bowman served as a judicial law clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit both for Judge Samuel A. Alito, Jr., and for Judge Michael A. Chagares. Mr. Bowman also served as a law clerk for Judge John M. Roll at the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona. Mr. Bowman earned his J.D. summa cum laude from Ave Maria School of Law in 2003, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from the University of Dayton.
